Nice little lock and quick pick! Looks similar to one I have, I’m glad you took the core out slow though, coz I couldn’t for the life of me work out how that spring went on when I put it back together! ??

Pretty neat old lock. Looked to be very well made, except for the lack of security pins.
Lock Noob Lock Noob 15.01.2019->Yes, was expecting a spool it two :-)

The Brass shackle versions of that lock are numbered 831, 851, & 871 for the 41mm, 54mm, & 67mm sizes, and are still available. I assume that yours must be the 41mm 731 padlock.

Wow. What little confidence I had started to build about doing my first lock gutting has just been shattered...off to the back burner with that idea...
Lock Noob Lock Noob 15.01.2019->Just practice and you’ll nail it :-)

I dunno the model and didn't know it was rekeyable. You can now put in your own mushrooms. ??

I'm used to seeing vintage Yale padlocks a bit older that are pined together from the front to back, and then ground / sanded smooth so you can't see how they were put together (unless you know what to look for). I've never seen a Yale of that more conventional, modern design. I think the older Yales are a bit better made.
Lock Noob Lock Noob 15.01.2019->I love the classic design :-)

Another great pick, on a beautiful vintage Yale padlock my friend ? Some might say about adding security pins to this one, but I would disagree, in so far as it would change the lock its self, along with its history - especially if it is just gonna be a collection piece. Anyway, just a really cool lock and, thanks for sharing this with us all ? Awesome video as always Mr Noob ????

I found one of these at a local yard sale a few years ago. While it was quite a easy pick for this total amateur, I did not try to gut it. I am glad I didn't seeing the trouble. It sits on my shelf of decorative locks now.
Lock Noob Lock Noob 16.01.2019->It’s definitely a beauty :-)

I have 2 of the older larger versions but they dont gut like that one. I have pics if anyone wants to see, made keys for both. They were 850D s i think, pinned together.
