I have a feeling it would not be too difficult to drill this out. The free spinning disc is pretty thin.

If you still keep this cutaway version of the 37/55, what is the function of the pin in between the shackle at the top of the lock body?

If u look at the lock from above while its standing, theres a small circle, a dot slightly from the middle down under the shackle. At some it has same level as the rest of the body and at some its under or rising a millimeter to the ambient surface. A pin, a peg.. Im not sure what to call it.

The core looks alot like an Abloy core. <br> What is the difference between them? Is one better than the other?
          @AdrianWeber 20.05.2018->Hey Sonoma, that is actually an intersting question. One that I would like to answer in detail in a new video hopefully soon. But as for now yes it is exactly like an abloy core with a few differences. Assa Abloy makes the housing for the discs out of brass while Abus uses zinc die cast to reduce the overall production costs. The Assa Abloy disc detainers have more discs, usually 10, 11 or even more, which makes them more secure. Abus does not use a key restriction at all where as with Assa Abloy key restrictions and private profiles e.g. for the military or high security applications are optional and can be ordered. Personally I would say that the "original" disc detainer from Assa Abloy is more secure and a bit better. Hope that helps, Adrian

I noticed it said pull protection, or somethng like that. I kind of doubt that&#39;s accurate. Also, if some of the innards are made from cast zinc won&#39;t it be susceptible to melting attacks?
          @AdrianWeber 18.03.2018->Since it has a hardened front disc which is anchored it is going to be VERY difficult to pull that core and highly unlikely. Some inards are made of zinc die cast but even if you melt the actuator there is still the hardened steel pin within it blocking the ball bearings. But I wonder what happens if you melt the housing of the discs which is also made of zinc. Either the gate is still blocked or there is enough room after melting the housing so that you can turn the inner core. However I am not sure whether this would work or not. Best wishes, Adrian
          @peppern79 18.03.2018->I didn't realize there was a steel pin within the actuator, so you're probably right. Knowing ABUS, they've probably tested and tried everything to make it as secure as possible while still being useful.

Would this lock be easier to pick if it had discs with concurrent numbers in its set of 7 discs?  Eg is a lock with a series of discs withe gates numbered 1225661 easier to pick than 1256156 because two or more concurrent discs would have their gates cut in the same place?

Profiled key but NO profiled disc! I didn&#39;t see one, never have seen one for Abus.
          @AdrianWeber 22.12.2017->Abus has a profile but but it is just slightly different to having no profile. And yes it is not a complex profile such as the ones Assa Abloy has for their disc detainers. Best wishes, Adrian

****HAS ANYONE SHOT ONE YET******I have been trying To pick this lock now For about 6 months when i have time I consider myself a master locksmith and an Expert in picking well over 100 years in the family 35 plus for me ... There is a side of me that says I can do it But im going to have to get lucky On multiple angles . I havent stopped yet , LOL this is no Doubt The best of the best of locks Im hoping To shoot one with a 223 round and a 40cal . Has anyone shot one yet?
          @AdrianWeber 12.10.2016->Hey Christopher, I haven't shot one yet but the lock is made of hardened steel so you will not get far with shooting it unless you use armor piercing ammunition. Don't give up on the lock man I am sure you will get it open at some point! But keep in mind that some people might be really good at lock picking but can not open disc detainers or lever locks and other people are better at picking these. Thanks for the comment man! Would it be possible to break the lock with a bolt-clipper? Since I am traveling a lot, I am looking for a secure padlock for a hostels locker. Thanks, Steve
          @AdrianWeber 13.01.2016->+Steve Stallone Well that lock might be a bit of an overkill for a locker. You can probably clip the 11mm shackle with a pair of HUGE bolt cutters. But it is highly unlikely that someone would do that. Best wishes, Adrian
          @ganzonomy 31.01.2016->+Adrian Weber It is. I put an ABUS 20/70 on my gym locker and got called down to remove it due to "WTF is THIS?!" apparently, the fact that it was shrouded (diskus) and it has the abus plus mechanism, made it too much of a "what if he leaves it here?!" liability.

Finally got one as well :)<br>Was surprised as how light it it. Now on the the picking with this thing :D<br>One thing that is worth mentioning is that the shackle is removable which is really cool.

Actually there are several versions of this padlock, one is like this and another one (like yours) is with a removable shackle.
