I just bought one of these (in the UK), same model number, but it has 6 pins. Maybe they saw this video! I&#39;ve not picked it yet, so can&#39;t comment on the pins but its security level is stated as 3 out of 10.

I just missed out on one of these locks, bidders sniped me.? Aesthetics usually sucks me in, pins are disappointing but can&#39;t fix that.??

That&#39;s a visually nice lock. But really the question is why it&#39;s not equipped with some spools. There must be a reason for the company not to do it. The price?

          @bmjames 05.10.2019->@@lockpickinglawyer These brass Yale locks are their low-end range in terms of security. I've bought a few from the range and none have security pins. The 50mm padlock has 6 pins though, which is unusual for a 50mm brass padlock. My conclusion is that producing standard pins is so much cheaper than machining security pins, that they would rather add an extra pin than make just one security pin.

Great video as always LPL! Just a pity that the picking wasn&#39;t more of a challenge for you but what can be expected from you SPP-ing a lock with 5 standard pins to be fair? It must feel like most locks are set to Easy Mode when you breeze through their &#39;security&#39;. I&#39;m guessing that this lock has the standard arrangement of plugs capping the pin stacks, ones which are flush with the body of the lock?<br><br>If so and you were really bored you could always use a nylon hammer to push the pin stack plugs in a little, center punch them and drill a small hole in each so you can thread a screw in and remove said plugs. Once they&#39;re out of the way you could replace the drivers with security pins, tamper with the &#39;bible&#39; and core or even rekey the lock while you&#39;re at it so you have better bitting.<br><br>Once finished you could put fresh plugs in the holes, tap them in and then sand/file off any raised bits so that it is a flush surface again. Fiddly, time consuming and an uneconomical but I had fun doing it to an Abus 30mm padlock that I had been given, keyless. I tried impressioning but failed, only had 1 blank left and wanted to have a key so that was what I came up with, probably should have spent the $6 and just bought a new lock with keys but where is the fun in that?
          @lockpickinglawyer 16.03.2017->I've done that a few times before.  drill out the plugs and replaced them with brass screws after tapping... then sanded the lock back to like-new condition.

Nice easy pick for you. I am new at locksport and have haveing a hard time with a yale door lock. The key is very much the same. But the keyway is tiny. It is an old lock. But with practice i will spp. I can rake the lock.

Great video, as always, LPL. Just one possible suggestion for us new guys... Would you mind stating what pick you are using at the start of each pick attempt? I&#39;m still at the stage of trying to associate what picks are preferred for each lock type.
