------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @peterwilson7532 18.11.2024 I made a big mistake tonight, getting back into lock picking and found an Abus 65/50 brand new in its box. I thought, that looks quite basic. ??

How wrong was I, after struggling for an hour. I realised it's not me it's the lock. Hence I ended up here to see what was inside this beast.

Bitting on mine was similar, first pin was very high and kept dropping. Pin 3 was so low it stopped me getting to 4 and 5. I almost got it a couple of times but too little finesse dealing with counter rotation stumped me and oversetting pin 3. I shall return to it in a few weeks.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @Nemesis-yn5wv 10.10.2024 If that’s what I think it is then one of those unions is the union assa abloy 3102.
It is a brass body but actually with a bronze manganese shackle. They are used in industry in anti spark environments to prevent explosions.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @JustLuffyx 29.06.2024 whats the "N" mean
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @cono5794 01.12.2022 Bosnian bill has a good video explaining the new way these are machined.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @andrewchristiansen8311 11.03.2022 I just picked a 55/45 Abus with the Sparrows .025 short hook & the lunatic you recommended which I absolutely love. Wish they had a lunatic in .020. I made a 60$ order and got 5 picks & every TOK Sparrows offer, even the .072 bars. Then the Sherman case. I got the short & long hook in both .025 & .020. Then the lunatic. Going for Southord .022 slimline hooks & offsets next. That Pagoda hook looks nice :D @LockNoob 11.03.2022->I wish they did the whole range in 0.02!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @kimlundsrensen594 23.02.2021 I know exactly what this is all about. The Abus 65/50 is the second of my first 2 real locks I had. The first one was a Rockfort -Something cheap... I struggled with those 2 for DAYS! Since I went through the 4 acryllic locks that came with my first cheap pick set from Amazon maybe a hundred times, I couldn't believe why these 2 cheap locks were so damned difficult!

Seeing as Lock Noob and BosnianBill had a hard time with this one, it felt so much better once I actually cracked them. @LockNoob 01.03.2021->Wow, I'd forgotten this video! @kimlundsrensen594 02.03.2021->@@LockNoob consider yourself reminded ? @gprider1525 05.09.2024->@@kimlundsrensen594useful to me now too, just starting out
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @craigslist8995 03.11.2020 Where can I find the S-curved pry bars you use? @LockNoob 09.11.2020->Sadly the company is no longer
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @Deadlocks86 15.09.2020 Little late to this one. I'm having some trouble with a old batterd 65/50. Loveing the term spool ping pong. And that union collection is nice. Thanks for what you do. Cracking channel ? @LockNoob 21.09.2020->Thanks ?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @The_Doc_Rocks 18.08.2020 I'm currently trying to pick a 65/50 that I got yesterday, but it is proving to be quite the challenge. I know exactly what you mean by the spool ping-pong, but I think I've missed one of the pins needing to be set as high as the Pin #1 in your example. I think mine is Pin #4 in addition to Pin #1 - but Pin #3 is very low and I keep oversetting it while trying to set 4. Great entertainment...! ;) Good video - thanks :) @LockNoob 24.08.2020->Thanks ?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @gcbrain2933 20.06.2020 I startet lp with that one ?. Gettin better pickin it several times. @LockNoob 22.06.2020->?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @pickbeard2690 22.04.2017 You can't beat a bit of Abus ping pong???
Nice work buddy and great parcel from Apache Locksport???????
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @darthpaul123 09.04.2017 We keep these Abus all over the building I work in. I've always been curious how they are as a pick. The sad thing is, they actually replaced a couple recently with master #3 and threw the Abus locks away they couldn't find keys for...I wish they told me! I just noticed a bunch of masters on things and though somebody should have consulted me first lol. @LockNoob 09.04.2017->Pickaholic ouch! Poor Abus's they could have gone to a loving home :-(
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @JONSLOCKPICKING 08.04.2017 Glad you got them. Nice picking mate. Any joy with the sta-padlock?. I have 3 parcel's to go out. Once them are done. I have more for you. Cleaning old stock out. And moving on to lever locks and others. Thanks for the dimples picks. Cool. Ya pal Jon. @LockNoob 09.04.2017->APACHE-LOCKSPORT no luck with that STA yet... or a couple of Squire Strongholds I have. They are in the naughty bucket for now! One day I'll get them :-) glad you like the dimple picks :-)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @NoctisMotus 08.04.2017 Cool stuff. Apache Locksport is a good man.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @tonyholt90 08.04.2017 spool ping pong lol
well done on the opening!!! @LockNoob 08.04.2017->tonyholt90 thanks :-)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @billbacardi3262 07.04.2017 Great picking sir! Nice abus.           @LockNoob 08.04.2017->Bill Bacardi thank you :-)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @jamesmurphy8014 07.04.2017 Great pick!           @LockNoob 08.04.2017->James Murphy thanks :-)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @theoneandonlyghandi 07.04.2017 Great picking! I don't know that it is a rule of thumb but every non-ic Abus I've picked has had a standard driver in pin #1 and as such binds first, then you have to be careful not to drop it as you're picking the security pins behind it. Most (if not all) have had spools in the other positions so it is really easy to drop pin #1 when overcoming the spools. @LockNoob 08.04.2017->theoneandonlyghandi yeah, pin 1 was definitely standard and easy to drop. I'd almost say that I don't know if I could pick this lock without dropping pin 1 at least once :-)
