Do the cores on locks like this simply fall out if you drill the retaining pin? They seem very vulnerable in that way and there are surprisingly a lot of locks with a visible retaining pin on the outside, like american lock.

Good day, Sir, I have a question, In the hypothesis of a lock with no key, can we make a new key and then repin the lock? I don't have full use of my hands otherwise I would have tried to fix it myself...also I don't have a "decoder card' or big pin box with all the numbers. I appreciate your videos also the "man from Bosnia" videos LOL
          @dfpguitar 08.12.2018->I realise you asked this a year ago, but yes you can do that. It is called impressioning. But you dont need to repin the lock. Once you make your key it will work as well as the factory original. However once you unlock the padlock, you can disassemble it and change the pins too.

And another great video of a great pick. I have two questions, though.<br>I&#39;m interested in seeing the core from the bottom of the keyway, to see how far the holes for the keypins go through the warding (if at all). Would you mind including such a shot occasionally on locks with extremely paracentric keyways?<br>And I&#39;m curious to learn if you clean and relube grimy locks like these before putting them back together.

Great pick! One thing though, in these padlocks would it not be more useful to file off those little pieces of metal on the spinner that interact with the lock cyliner. I think that would then prevent someone tensioning the cylinder with the spinner and actualy spin in a drill attempt. Please comment.

          @PerezBSclan 12.06.2017->turn anty-drill plate upside down and put 2 holes in front cover instead of core. but doing it this way it would have to have bigger cuts to allow key rotation.
also would be possible to spring load it so it wont turn freely unless its pushed by key, some alien technology as bosnianbill would say :D
          @R2gbs 12.06.2017->I'd suggest attaching it to the face plate, or even allow it to have some movement. Instead of removing the little pins I would drill tracks for two steel balls.
          @JEMHull-gf9el 12.06.2017->Or just leave it the way it is. That little shield is hardened, if you do mange to drill through it you have the steel anti drill pin in the lock to contend with, its not going to be something that you can just drill through with ease. Also if you're drilling the lock in situ managing to hold and mount the lock so you can get a good purchase with the drill bit and steadily drill exactly where it would have any efficacy is going to be a feat in and of itself.
