It's possible the sloppy core is due to having all spoils, but Abus usually have one standard pin...

          @LockNoob 05.07.2017->Efren Gonzalez it's very hard to say, since people's picking styles and preferences differ, but I think that the SouthOrd C2010 offers fantastic value if you are careful with the picks as they are stainless steel and can bend with heavy use

Just started picking and I have one of these locks, I find that if I Insert the key tip into the lock and apply a small amount of turning pressure, then fully insert the key the lock will not open until the pressure is released. Would this mean that the deepest pin (pin 6 ?) would have to be set first?<br>Fantastic channel, I&#39;ve enjoyed every video I have watched so far. Cheers!
          @LockNoob 21.08.2018->Hmmm, I’m not sure, it sounds like by doing that you are preventing a key pin from fully setting and it’s hanging up... is it quite an old lock?
          @GaryGraham66 22.08.2018->Yeah its quite old and looks like its had a hard life. It only takes a tiny amount of pressure and once the pressure is released you can hear a pin resetting.

great video, showing a lot of mastery( narrating while working and not losing the thread, knowing where you are pinwise- I FEEL I&#39;m on pin two when I&#39;ve got my arm inside the damn thing most times), however (there has to be a however!) the Abus&#39;s I&#39;ve dismantled, and most that I&#39;ve seen dismantled online have one serrated(not plain), and the rest spool, any chance of seeing inside this one?

Hi Lock Noob, nice picking there ! - You said something very important... right at the end... that this lock doesn&#39;t really like bottom of the keyway tensioning, which makes me wonder this may be the reason I&#39;m having so much trouble with my ABUS 80TI/50 lock. I&#39;ve been trying to get it open for a few weeks ( had one time it opened ) but cannot remember how I did it, but I&#39;m going to try top of the key way and see how it goes.
          @LockNoob 07.07.2017->Yes, how you tension the lock is the most important thing. In one of my last videos, I had to pick a lock anti-clockwise using top of the keyway tension

I follow all of the community members who post weekly, and I have never heard anyone actually say why they are using top of the key way tension ( specifically ) 100% of the time it is because of the access available and so this is why it is done. I had a funny feeling that by applying tension at the top of the key way, it does apply a different type of force to the pins and the cylinder. Thanks for explaining that just now - so glad you did !
          @LockNoob 08.07.2017->Lock Pickin' Magician mostly, the top on bottom tensioning is a mix of preference and access, but direction and position of tension will twist the core differently and in turn change the binding order of the pins :-)

If ever you are bored, maybe you can do that type of newbie type video where you discuss those difference on video, I think many would benefit from it. I watch a lot of you guys in the community picking pins, but I do not recall anyone talking about the binding, and the tensioning ( upper vs lower ) so it could be a great video for everyone. They can be tricky ;D, but these 65CS are beautiful :). The pinning can be a bit different sometimes, but I think there are 4 spools and a serrated or normal in. Yep, some locks just need the TOK tensioning ;). Thanks for sharing this nice lock :).

As usual nice picking.???<br>Could you have got a thicker pick in there (black handled Peterson) or was the keyway too tight for that?<br>I noticed the flex on the pick whilst you were &quot;nudging up&quot; the final pin, it might of helped to have a slightly more rigid pick?<br>Thanks for sharing as always ?????
