i just got a series 2 version of this lock and the drivers are the same in mine. mine was set for zero bitting but i used the sparrows reload kit red key to pin mine up.

Couldn&#39;t you just press the detent down, rotate, use the holes on bottom to remove the key pins?

I have been doing this for a bit now. I still have issues with locks I have picked. I pick it once then takes me forever to do it again! Why can&#39;t I get better?!

Are these locks decent? I have a few with Medeco 5IS 6-pin cores. After a few months of bouncing around with the TSA, I&#39;ve noticed the &quot;NanoProtect&quot; coating is flaking off.

We use a whole range of 570 cores in ours, whatever the customer wants. We do a lot of restricted stuff.

Sometimes I wonder about bill..... Rarely you&#39;ll find a security pin? I have a dozen 83 series locks, they all have security pins....... SMH He may be the most popular picker, and indeed has inspired many people to start picking. But he&#39;s often wrong about things.

It looks as if that first standard pin had marks to be cut into another spool, maybe all their pins are made so they can be made into spools if needed.

I don&#39;t think that the lines are a remnant from manufacture on the first pin Bill, every Abus that I own with factory pinning has the same pin in position #1 and spools thereafter.

I had the exact situation happen which you mentioned with the disassembly: I accidentally rotated the core the wrong way and the detent got caught inside the bible. It was far enough toward the back that I could see the base of the detent, so I took the little brass flat piece at the back off and used a small hooked piece of wire to pull the spring out of the detent. I then shook the core until the detent piece fell down and pulled the core out. It looks like it may be possible to compress a small spring and insert it back through that slot and possibly fix the detent, but so far no dice. I was able to retrieve the core though, so it&#39;s a small step toward success ;)
