------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @uiopuiop3472 12.06.2026 fun fact: bordó means a specific hue of red in ungric
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @TonyHolmes-e4h 26.05.2026 Challenge a lock?
Portapack acetylene and oxy doesnt care what lock. Saves time. Saves having a tool inventory but kinda kills the hobby/interest.
A nozzle for steels between 25-50 mm thick is plenty. Give it 10 seconds from torch ignition to success. Burn it off dude
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @peglegjim57 25.05.2026 Great!
I just bought one for my e-bike, and now everyone on YouTube knows how to steal it with. $15 dollar tool from Harbor Freight. ?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @TheOriginalEL 24.05.2026 I wonder how difficult this would be when the lock is being used on a bike rather than being secured in a vice.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @itsallgonemad 23.05.2026 Use the nut splitter on the thieves… problem solved! ???
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @JariJuslin 22.05.2026 I have five Abus X-Lock locks keyed alike and on my main bike I carry both U-lock and this Bordo. My hope is that very few thieves carry breaking tools for two different types of locks, and they'll pick the neighboring bike that's easier to take.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @DaveBigDawg 20.05.2026 I have a nut splitter
She's usually in the kitchen ???
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @romandybala 20.05.2026 From a real world perspective it would be awkward getting that much torque on the nut splitter standing next to a locked bicycle in a public space .Its like having a simple padlock held tightly in a vice and a sharp hammer blow might get it open but put that same lock on a chain in a fence and you will have no hope of breaking it that way.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @Fstop5.6 19.05.2026 There goes that lock because everyone carries a nut splitter with them.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @daelra 18.05.2026 You cut of the plastic to get a good purchase with the nutsplitter. As with all bike locks, it's the amount of time it takes to cut through the lock that is the real metric here, not a straight pass/fail. How much time did it take to cut the plastic sheathing? could you have cut it off quickly in situ and would just using the splitter on an uncut piece of plastic still be quick? Just wondering if an angle grinder would still be quicker if the prep took as long as actually using the device?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @elemnium 17.05.2026 this lock looks pretty decent, as it took a full 2 minutes of annoying repeating sound and heavy tools working on the bike, and the also removed the plastic part, and adjusted for a lot of time the nut splitter so someone with less experience and in a real life situation probably would struggle with this, and would not have both of these quite heavy and big tools. so in my books this looks like a pretty decent lock.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @pandacongolais 17.05.2026 Hasn't the nut splitter been "enlarged" ? I mean, at the beginning, there was close to no space between the blade, the fully retracted pusher, and the lock junction in between. And just before everything exploded, it looked like was something like 2 cm wider. Yes, cm, France here, we use the International System units ;-)
PS: I just realized I'm commenting an 8 years old video ! But, why not ?...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @philliplopez8745 16.05.2026 Archimedes wins again .
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @MrSuperawesome5000 16.05.2026 The title being "616 nut splitter" made me think you did a video on my college girlfriend from Grand Rapids
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @richardhenry5961 16.05.2026 Well, OUT in the field, you don't have a Vice to hold it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @twothreefour234 16.05.2026 Lock dismissed
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @jack002tuber 16.05.2026 Now you need to pick it open. A lock with no key? Its your mission to pick this
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @TXDude 15.05.2026 Hmmmm.... I'll remember not to lock my bike near any work benches with mounted vices. But out in the wild, I think it's obvious that 3 hands are needed. Try again.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @schwartz_w 14.05.2026 you did have to put it in a vise so on the street it'd be tougher to hold it still while tightening. But like with all security measures none are fool proof, you're just buying time.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ @TheOtherGuy27 08.05.2026 If someone can go through the time and effort and noise this takes and steal your bike without anyone noticing and doing anything about it maybe don't leave your bike in such a bad place next time ?
